Louisiana Voices Funding Opportunities

Grant opportunities are available to teachers from a variety of funding sources. Following is a list of various funding sources that might be appropriate for your school and projects related to the Louisiana Voices program.

Louisiana Division of the Arts (LDOA)/Arts in Education grants - LDOA offers several categories of Arts-in-Education grants. The Arts-in-Education (AIE) Program is intended to strengthen the role of the arts in the educational process and to demonstrate the value of the artist within that process. Folklife is considered an arts discipline in Louisiana, and projects can be funded through LDOA's grant programs. Guidelines and applications are online. Deadline for applications is March 1 of each year.

The Louisiana Decentralized Arts Funding Program also supports in-school projects such as Louisiana Voices. You can find more information about this program online. Select Regional Distributing Agency to determine which arts agency funds your parish. The deadlines vary depending upon the arts agency. Deadlines are between March 30 and July 2 for projects that will occur between October 1 and September 30.

Louisiana Learn and Serve Grants - The Louisiana Serve Commission awards two types of grants through their Learn and Serve Program to schools that foster civic responsibility and provide educational opportunities through service learning projects. Service learning is a teaching methodology which can be used with any course and combines service to the community with academic learning.

School Grants.org - If you are looking for lists of corporations and private foundations that have grant programs for K-12 projects, SchoolGrants.org might be for you. Using this accessible and informative site, you can view descriptions of different granting programs through foundations according to your region, or you can research state or federal opportunities.
